Jeffery Deaver was born May 6, 1950 in Glen Ellyn, IL.

He started off as a journalist but later trained as a lawyer and then practiced law.

Many of his books have made the New York Times, London, and Los Angeles Times best seller lists.

He has also written under the pen name "William Jefferies".
